A group of conservative black men and women are now gathering support and publically calling for the censure of Rep. Maxine Waters (CA-D).
Led by Star Parker, president of the Center for Urban Renewal Education, and Johms Gool, senior pastor of Victory Christian Center, and many other prominent members of the conservative black community, they descended on Capitol Hill on Thursday to demand that House Speaker Paul Ryan (WI-R) censure Waters for her inflammatory rhetoric.
The group is responding to Waters’ recent inflammatory remarks openly calling for people to form a mob and physically confront members of the Trump administration if they see them out in public after the manufactured controversy over separated illegal migrant families erupted. The policy of separating illegal migrant children from their illegal migrant parents at the border has been an ongoing situation spanning years.
The group emphasized their position that free speech is a protected right, and no one should be harassed for supporting the president. Video of Waters’ remarks at a Los Angeles rally went viral earning the radical California Democrat a well earned and very public rebuke from Republicans and even some Democrats.
However, this group of men and women insist that these rebukes are merely words and not enough. Action in the form of censure must follow to set an example. Some, among more radical liberal circles, have defended Waters, including the Congressional Black Caucus. As a result, conservative black leaders felt it was time to step up to counter the so-called “resistance” with a voice of reason from within their own community.
Johnathan Alexandre, director of public policy at the Liberty Counsel, stated – “This is a dangerous and unhinged call that signals to liberal activists that violence is a preferred way to demonstrate this disagreement. This resistance is not progressing at all, but is rather in a standstill, hunched over in a dark corner of bitterness and self-loathing and now dangerous retaliation.”
The vitriol and calls for violence extended even into the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court as the replacement for retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy with US Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leading protests against the nomination on the steps of the Supreme Court in Washington.
“Are you ready for a fight? Are you ready to defend Roe v. Wade?” Sanders said.
This is a tough fight but it is a fight that we can win . . . We have the American people on our side, now we have to go state by state by state to make sure senators do what their constituents want.”
Meanwhile, Gool claims this lack of respect for civil dialogue is indicative of the Left and their repeated and continuing attempts to undermine the Constitution, and by extension President Trump and his administration. He also praised the nomination of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court because he believes in the original meaning of the Constitution.
Gool stated – “I contend that our Constitution is never outdated because rather than being hundreds of pages filled with policy like these modern constitutions, our founder put together a few simple pages dealing with human nature. Now, human nature has no expiration date, and neither does our constitution and although it was not perfect, it left a means for fixing imperfections, allowing me to stand before you today.”
Parker openly condemned Waters stating plainly that the Congresswoman is openly encouraging the kind of behavior that keeps families separated and leads to civil war. Parker states the purpose of their press briefing was to allow America to see that Waters is not the face of all of black America.
Parker stated – “Congresswoman Maxine Waters has violated the sacred trust we each have to each other as Americans that have each of our rights stop at the others nose. Her call to extremism based on where another American citizen works and who they associate with must be sternly addressed by Speaker Paul Ryan and apology is not enough, nor did she offer one, after being asked by House Speaker.
We move into two months of intense debate over the next SCOTUS nomination the censuring of Maxine Waters becomes of extreme urgency so we compel Speaker Paul Ryan to heed the call of many on the Freedom caucus today and his colleague and censor Maxine Waters today.”
The left, encouraged by the propaganda put forth by the mainstream media working as the left’s personal microphone, is generating a frenzy of faux outrage over a situation that clearly needs to be addressed.
This has been going on for a long time. They have been streaming over the border. By the millions. There have been volumes written about it, election campaigns ran on it, even an entire presidential campaign run on the issue. As Brad Parscale recently tweeted “Over 90,000 kids were detained under Obama. And no one cared.”
However, current law does not mandate family separation at the border and there is no federal statute that requires such action. The Trump administration’s current policy was not dictated to it by Congress, past or present, by Republicans or by Democrats. However, current law does not prevent these adults from being separated from the children they brought, either.
The crux of the argument comes down to a legal decision from 1997 known as the Flores settlement. The Flores settlement began as a class-action lawsuit in the 1980s regarding the “detention and release” of minors taken into custody by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).
This settlement demands the release of children to their parents, relatives, etc. without unnecessary delay. If this placement is unavailable — e.g., if the child’s parent is a threat to them or is placed in criminal proceedings or the supposed parent is only posing as one — the government must put the child in the “least restrictive” accommodations that are appropriate for their needs.
Prior to the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, illegal immigrants who had crossed the border with children were not often prosecuted but placed in family detention centers (or released) with the order to attend a future court date or await deportation. Often times, they simply disappeared into America and never returned for their court dates.
Now that the adults are being prosecuted and held for their criminal proceedings, the children are subsequently separated and detained in appropriate accommodations outlined by more recent appeals and revisions to the Flores settlement.
Yet decades now, women — and, yes, even children — have been taken as slaves by coyotes who traverse the border with them in a massive industry known as “human trafficking” and President Trump has expressed a commitment to significantly reduce or even end human trafficking as well as secure the border.
The Trump Administration quietly issued an Executive Order back in December 2017 which allows for the freezing of US-housed assets belonging to foreign individuals or entities deemed “serious human rights abusers,” along with government officials and executives of foreign corporations (current or former) found to have engaged in corruption – which includes the misappropriation of state assets, the expropriation of private assets for personal gain, and corruption related to government contracts or the extraction of natural resources.
Additionally, anyone in the United States who aids or participates in said corruption or human rights abuses by foreign parties is subject to frozen assets – along with any U.S. corporation who employs foreigners deemed to have engaged in corruption on behalf of the company.
“I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the prevalence and severity of human rights abuse and corruption that have their source, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States, such as those committed or directed by persons listed in the Annex to this order, have reached such scope and gravity that they threaten the stability of international political and economic systems.”
Homeland Security secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen, spoke with regards to the zero-tolerance immigration policy stating – “there has been a 325 percent increase in unaccompanied alien children and a 435 percent increase in family units entering the country illegally.”
First, we need to amend the 2008 Trafficking Victims Prevention Reauthorization Act, or T.V.P.R., which is much easier to say. This law encourages families to put children in the hands of smugglers to bring them alone on this dangerous trek northward. And make no mistake, we’ve talked about this before: This trek is dangerous and deadly.
Second, we need to reform our asylum laws to end the systemic abuse of our asylum system and stop fraud. Right now, our asylum system fails to assist asylum seekers who legitimately need it. We are a country of compassion and heart. We must fix this system so that those who truly need asylum can, in fact, receive it.
Third, we need to amend the Flores Settlement Agreement and recent expansions which would allow for family detention during the removal process. And we need Congress to fully fund our ability to hold families together through the immigration process. And until these loopholes are closed by Congress, it is not possible as a matter of law to detain and remove whole family units who arrive illegally in the United States. Congress and the courts created this problem and Congress alone can fix it.
Until then, we will enforce every law we have on the books to defend the sovereignty and security of the United States. Those who criticize the enforcement of our laws have offered only one countermeasure: open borders, the quick release of all illegal alien families and the decision not to enforce our laws.
This policy would be disastrous. Its prime beneficiary would be the smuggling organizations themselves, and the prime victims would be the children, who would be plunged into the smuggling machines on the trip north.”
In 2017 alone ICE rescued 518 trafficking victims and 904 children subjected to exploitation, yet people like Waters, Sen. Kamela Harris (CA-D), and actress and leftist candidate for New York Governor Cynthia Nixon call ICE a terror organization and demand it be abolished.
When these groups are quite literally protesting ICE while a raid is in process of an active human trafficking ring involving juveniles, one can only conclude that the exploitation and subjugation of women and children is perfectly acceptable to them.
